Response to "Little Red (Litigious) Shoes"

Today, I stumbled upon a very interesting article in the New York Times written by Jeannie Suk. Entitled "Little Red (Litigious) Shoes, Suk reported about a legal dispute between designers Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent. The dispute is about whether or not the color red could be trademarked for the bottom of a shoe. As we all know, Christian Louboutin is the master mind behind "red bottoms". And it's safe to say that almost every female celebrity owns a pair and almost every girl wish she could own a pair. They are simply a work of art. Louboutin has built an empire because of his gorgeous shoes with the red bottom and he kind of "trademarked" the red sole. Every time I spot a shoe with a red bottom, I say to myself "wow, somebody has money."

Lip Stick Kiss.

It seems like no outfit is complete without a bold statement lip these days. While lip-gloss used to be very popular, lipsticks are now taking over. A simple outfit can be transformed instantly with the right color lipstick.  Nowadays, deep colors are very trendy.  Maroon, fuchsia, plum and even black are hot sellers at stores like MAC and Sephora. While each person’s skin complexion is unique and not everyone can wear the same shade, going to a make up counter can be useful to finding the perfect hue . Lip liner can make all the difference too. If there is a shade that you are searching for but can’t seem to find, you can always blend a lipstick with a lip liner to achieve the look you are going for. Colors that are also very popular are violet, nude and cotton candy pink. Everywhere I go and every website I look at, I always see somebody wearing those colors. I personally like color blocking, so I wouldn’t play it safe and just wear something basic with a nude, violet or pink lipstick. Although there is nothing wrong with basics, having fun and exploring a wide array of colors to contrast with your lipstick would be great. For example, if you are wearing red blazer or dress, a violet or nude lipstick would look great. It can be boring to wear lipstick to match your outfit. Playing around and contrasting is always better!

Very good video

My sister shared this video with me and based on the title I knew I had to watch. This is a never ending discussion that always seems to come up in the media as well as in my every day life. I can identify with some of the things that were being discussed, especially the whole skin complexion thing. Growing up, I was the most different from my sisters. I was the youngest, the thinnest, the darkest, the one with the coarsest hair; hence I'm the only one with a perm.

What bothers me the most that this video touches upon, is the fact that many people of Afro Caribbean decent do not want to admit that they are Black, especially Dominicans. It boggles my mind that many Dominican people refuse to come to terms with the fact that they are African just like I am! Dominicans and Haitians descended from the same people! This is an argument that I always have with one of my friends who does not understand that she is Black. There is nothing wrong with being Black or loving one's culture. But you cannot love your culture until you fully understand your culture's history. And being Dominican, Puerto Rican or Cuban and saying that you are not of African decent is simply ignorant! I do not care if your skin complexion is high yellow, red bone or the like. You are of African decent. THAT 'S IT!!!

FAB.

Wale is too swaggy!

Today.

So today I learned in my Journalism 201 class that I will have to use my blog for class. I'm a tad bit nervous about that. I feel like I'm kind of mixing business with pleasure lol. Versatility at its Finest of course is for my pleasure, while class and school work is more business. It's more of what I am supposed to do. But then again, I did choose to be a journalism major so blogging goes right along with it. I just hope my professor likes the site :)
Thrifted J. Crew sweater
I can't even say how much it cost, because this and another one came up to about $3.60
:) Salvation army!

I rather not.

Why would anyone want to befriend a hoe? I know it's pretty random that I ask. But I was thinking to myself the other day...how do hoes have friends? And if hoes have friends that are not hoes themselves...then they aren't real friends. You know what I mean? I personally do not like to be affiliated with certain people. And being friends with a hoe would not look good on my part. A friend of mine has this problem. She is friends with someone who sleeps around a tad bit too much and is simply thirsty! But yet, she still hangs around her. She complains to me and amongst her other friends, but she rather not drop her completely. I don't get it. Makes no sense! You are who you hang out with, and if you hang out with a hoe, others will perceive you to be a hoe as well. And that goes for a lot of things, not just a hoe. As bad as it is, that's just the way society works.
