In today's News

The promotional photo for WINNIE has been released. Starring Jennifer Hudson and Terrance Howard, the film is supposedly captivating and epic.
I'm not sure when this will hit theaters, but I will be sure to see it when it does!

According to Sean Carter, better known as Jay Z, New Jersey will no longer be apart of the basketball team known as the Nets, anymore. Instead, the team will be known as The Brooklyn Nets. In a year, the new home for the Nets will be the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
This is interesting, I wonder where the newly weds Kim and Chris Humpries will be stationed once the transition from New Jersey to New York occurs.
Jay who is part owner of the Nets franchise, is really shouting out his home borough with this one.
Big ups to Brooklyn!

In Yesterday's News.

It is extremely official!!
Although I didn't get to catch the VMAs in its entirety, I did catch the fact that Mrs. Carter, Beyonce Carter to be exact, is sporting a new baby bump. She did her thang on the stage and nothing was different. It seems as if the baby has given her this extra glow and confidence that she has never had before. Finally the "illest couple in the game" will be reproducing!
Perhaps some little Illuminati babies. lol Let me stop!!!

Following the Destiny Child legacy is my girl Kelly Rowland. She was looking great as usual for the VMAs.

And my boo thing Big Sean celebrated with a plaque due to his single "Like it's My Last".

Of the highest; very high.

One of the first names that appear when searching for female Swahili names is Aaliyah. One of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of the late Aaliyah Dana Haughton is greatness. Thus the definition of her name, which is this post's title, makes perfect sense.

*Aaliyah was a rising star. Although she delivered hit after hit while she was with us, she had potential to deliver much more. Her life was claimed in a disastrous plane crash on August 25, 2001; She was only 22 years old and she barely blossomed.

*It's been ten years since we lost one of the most beautiful and talented young women that the music industry has ever seen. Aaliyah's voice and charisma was just enough to capture the hearts of millions of fans, not to mention her on screen presence and her dance moves.

*Almost always seen with what I like to call a "side swoop bang", Aaliyah was a trend setter and inspiration to many boys and girls alike. Although I was only 8 when she passed away, I was old enough to emulate her moves while my sisters tried to emulate her style of dress.
Ms. Haughton did not reach the peak of her potential, but she did leave a mark on the lives of many people. I could only imagine what Aaliyah would be taking on if only she lived today.
